Please note that all unlabeled carry-on baggage will not be accepted on board.

  • All liquid containers up to a maximum volume of 100 ml each can be easily separated into a clear resealable plastic bag of 1 liter capacity.

Important note

Hand luggage carried on the plane must comply with Vietjet Air's hand luggage regulations and be placed under the seat in front or in the luggage compartment in the passenger compartment. Any piece of baggage that exceeds the allowable weight or size will not be allowed on board the aircraft.

Vietjet Air reserves the right to re-check the weight and size of your carry-on baggage at the departure gate. If your carry-on baggage does not comply with regulations, you will have to pay a fee to check it in, or your baggage will be refused transport.

Please note that baggage fees will be higher if you check in at the departure gate area. This fee will be calculated in the currency of your departure country. To save money, make sure to purchase luggage storage in advance if necessary.

Signed luggage

After you send your luggage to Vietjet Air for inspection, Vietjet Air will preserve and attach a baggage tag to each piece of luggage. Checked baggage must have your name or other personally identifiable information securely attached. Vietjet Air will transport checked baggage on the same flight as you, unless there are safety, security, or other operational reasons that require Vietjet Air to transport such baggage on another flight.

If your baggage is transported on a later flight, Vietjet Air will return it to you within a reasonable time after the arrival of that flight, unless you are required to be present for customs clearance according to statute.

Checked baggage fee

Vietjet Air will charge a fee to transport checked baggage. Each passenger is allowed to purchase only one checked baggage package. You can choose to purchase standard luggage packages weighing 20kg, 30kg, 40kg, 50kg, 60kg, 70kg, 80kg, 90kg, or 100kg (depending on the flight itinerary).

In addition, you can also purchase oversized luggage packages weighing 20 kg or 30 kg (you can increase the limit to a larger package 3 hours before the scheduled departure time). If you check in baggage that exceeds the baggage allowance purchased at the time of booking, you will be charged an additional fee per kilogram at the check-in counter at the airport. Note that baggage fees are non-refundable and non-transferable

Oversized checked baggage

Service only applies on Vietjet (VJ) flights, including:

  • The weight of oversized checked baggage must not exceed 32 kg per piece of baggage.
  • Dimensions exceeding the standard checked baggage allowance but not exceeding: 200cm (length) x 119cm (width) x 81cm (height).
  • Pre-purchased oversized baggage packages will include both checked baggage fees and oversized baggage handling service fees.
  • You can register and pre-purchase Oversized Baggage Packages at Vietjet Air's website, ticket office, agent, and customer service center.

Note:

  • Passengers who pre-order an oversized baggage package will have checked baggage corresponding to the weight of the purchased package, including 1 oversized bag/passenger/flight sector.
  • If there is excess weight left after checking in an oversized piece of luggage, you can still check in additional standard luggage.
  • From the 2nd piece of oversized baggage onwards, you will have to purchase additional services at the airport and comply with the regulation of 2 oversized pieces/passenger/flight sector. However, the service can be adjusted accordingly according to actual operations at the airport.

Passengers who have purchased a standard checked baggage package can still change to an oversized baggage package 3 hours before the scheduled departure time by contacting sales channels to make a request. Oversized baggage service fees will be higher if purchased at the airport.

Valuable and fragile goods

Passengers are advised not to check the following items in their baggage. However, if the customer still wants to check in as checked baggage for these items, you must agree to bear all risks during the transportation process. The list of items includes:

  • Money, jewelry, and rare metals.
  • Silverware, electronics, computers, cameras, and camcorders.
  • Transferable papers, securities, and other valuable papers.
  • Passport and identification documents.

  • Items are not packaged properly or do not meet safety conditions.
  • Items that may cause harm to the aircraft, people, or property on board, such as those specified in the Dangerous Goods Regulations of the International Aviation Organization (ICAO), the Transport Association of World Airlines (IATA), and Vietjet Air's terms of carriage and contract terms.

  • Fragile or perishable items.
  • Living or dead animals, remains, or animals.
  • Fresh or frozen seafood, or meats, provided that these items are properly packaged and can be transported as carry-on baggage after the authorities have inspected their contents. However, if the passenger refuses to be checked, Vietjet Air also has the right to refuse to transport the luggage.
  • Guns and ammunition.
  • Explosives, flammable or non-flammable gasses, flammable liquids, flammable solids, organic oxygen compounds, toxins, infectious substances, radioactive substances, corrosive substances, magnetic substances, oxygenated materials, chemicals, and bleaching materials.
  • Weapons such as guns, swords, ancient knives, and similar items may be allowed to be transported as checked baggage solely at the discretion of Vietjet Air for very special reasons. These items are not allowed on the plane for any reason.

Right to search

To ensure safety and security, Vietjet Air may require you and your luggage to undergo control, X-ray screening, or other screening methods. Vietjet Air has the right to check your luggage, even if you are not present, for the purpose of verifying whether it contains prohibited or unauthorized goods.

If you refuse to be checked or screened as above, Vietjet Air has the right to refuse to transport you and your luggage and is not responsible for refunding the freight or any liability to you. In the event that the inspection or screening causes injury to you or loss of baggage, Vietjet Air will not be responsible for any injury or loss, unless caused by Vietjet Air's fault or negligence.

Luggage delivery

Vietjet Air will deliver your luggage to you as soon as it arrives at the destination. However, if you do not pick up your baggage within a reasonable time and Vietjet Air must store the baggage, Vietjet Air may charge a storage fee. If you do not collect your checked baggage within 2 months, Vietjet Air may dispose of that baggage without any responsibility.

Only the person equipped with the baggage tag that was issued to the passenger at check-in is authorized to receive baggage. If the recipient of the baggage cannot present the baggage tag, Vietjet Air will only deliver the baggage to that person if he or she can provide proof of baggage ownership and meets Vietjet Air's requirements related to compensation for damages, losses, or expenses that Vietjet Air may incur due to the handover of such baggage.

The fact that the baggage tag holder receives the baggage at the time of handover will be clear evidence that the baggage has been handed over in good condition and in accordance with the transportation contract with Vietjet Air.

Vietjet Air's responsibility for damage to checked baggage

Vietjet Air is not responsible for any damage caused by defects in the nature, quality, or omission of baggage. Similarly, Vietjet Air will not be responsible for reasonable damage to luggage due to normal movement and impact during transportation by air. Vietjet Air commits to compensating passengers for luggage damage based on the general principle of compensation based on actual damage, but not exceeding the limit of Vietjet Air's liability.

It is your responsibility to provide evidence of actual damage to your baggage. Vietjet Air's latest general regulations on lost luggage compensation are as follows: For domestic routes, compensation based on weight is 200,000 VND/kg. For international routes, compensation based on weight is 20 USD/kg or equivalent foreign currency. The limit of liability for damages due to loss, shortage, or damage to checked baggage and carry-on baggage is 1,288 units per passenger.

Vietjet Air's responsibility for damages caused by baggage delay

Payment of goodwill for delayed baggage applies according to the following regulations:

Customers cannot receive their checked baggage back within 24 hours from the time the plane arrives at the destination during the flight and are not permanent residents of the same province or city that the airport belongs to; Vietjet Air applies a fee.

Goodwill is 180,000 VND/person for domestic routes and 300,000 VND/person for international routes. The limit of liability for damages due to delayed transportation is 1,288 calculation units per passenger.

Vietjet Air is not responsible for baggage damage caused by a flight delay if Vietjet Air can prove that:

  • Vietjet Air and its representatives have taken all reasonably necessary measures to avoid such damage.
  • Vietjet Air or its representatives cannot take such measures.

Some notes about Vietjet Air's latest baggage regulations

Baby strollers, manual wheelchairs, and mobility aids for passengers during the flight will be transported free of charge.

Therefore, Vietjet Air recommends that you purchase the necessary insurance for these tools.

For large musical instruments, you can choose to register for the Oversized Checked Baggage service or buy an additional seat next to you to place the musical instrument on the plane.
